Chinese Food Recipes Beef Teriyaki on a Stick
This post is sponsored by The Beef Checkoff. All opinions are my own.
In our house we love ordering Chinese takeout. I swear our local restaurant knows what I am going to order as soon as she sees my phone number. We often go into the restaurant to eat and Baby orders the same thing for her entree every time – Beef Teriyaki On a Stick from the appetizer menu. Two single skewers aren't usually enough to fill her, so she often doubles the appetizer order. This weekend I decided to surprise her by making the dish for the Celebrate Beef #SundaySupper.
I am very lucky to have multiple Asian markets in my area. My pantry often contains a few different brands of Teriyaki marinade that I find delicious as homemade. On a busy weekend, I'll take the few minutes I save using a ready made marinade, but if prefer a homemade version, check out A Cozy Kitchen's homemade Teriyaki Sauce recipe.
Lean beef contains 10 essential nutrients your body needs, like protein, vitamin B12 and Zinc. Most people don't even realize that a 3 ounce serving of lean beef only contains about 150 calories and less than 5 grams of saturated fat. My kids don't seem to notice all the good beef does for their growing bodies. They just know it tastes good, and it's even better when they can eat their dinner on a stick.
For my Teriyaki skewers I used thinly sliced strip steak from my favorite farmers market. My knives just aren't sharp enough to get the thickness I wanted, so I had the thin steaks cut for me. I used The Beef Checkoff's Interactive Butcher Counter to help me decide what cut of beef I wanted to use for my recipe.
Beef is so versatile in recipes, but the cuts can be confusing. I rid myself of any confusion on what cut I need for a specific recipe by going right to The Beef Checkoff site for answers to all my questions. I definitely made the right choice for the skewers. The beef was tender and easily removed from the skewer for eating, by the less barbaric members of the family.
